How to set up 2‑factor authentication (2FA) at Private.Ki
Two-factor authentication (2FA) adds an extra layer of security to your Private.Ki account:
With 2FA enabled, you need to enter a second factor (a temporary code from another device) to log in to Private.Ki. So even if someone knows your password, they cannot log in to your account.
We use a time-bases one-time password (TOTP) for this purpose, and we recommend to use the Authy app (App Store / Play Store). Feel free to use any other authenticator app - all of them work with Private.Ki.
Here’s how to set it up:
On Private.Ki, navigate to Settings - Security and Privacy:
Click on Enable TOTP:
Now we'll show you a QR code that you need to scan in the authenticator app:
Scan the code with your authenticator app (or type in the shown code manually), and it shows you a 6-digit confirmation code.
Enter this code on Private.Ki and click on Verify / Enable. Hurry up, this codes expires after a couple of seconds.
That's it:
Two-factor authentication is not activated for your account. From now on, you'll need the code from the app to log in to Private.Ki.
You can disable 2-factor authentication any time.
