Set up a recovery email address
Private.Ki uses strong encryption, and we don't know or save your password in any way. We can't tell you your password in case you forget it - and we can only reset it for you after you have proven that it's really you.
That's why adding a recovery email address to your account is essential as a safety net. This backup email (it can be any address you have access to, including another Private.Ki address) will receive a verification code to help you securely reset your password if needed. Without a recovery email set up, there's no way to recover a lost password – meaning you could permanently lose access to your account and all of its data.
Here's how you set up a recovery email address for your account:
Setting up a recovery email address
Navigate to Settings:
Click on Recovery email:
Enter your desired recovery email address and click on Add Recovery Email:
We will now send a verification code to the email address which you entered. It looks like this:
Enter this code on the next screen and click on Verify:
If you have entered the correct code, your recovery email is successfully set up:
You can now use password recovery at login, in case you lose your password.
As we are dedicated to security and encryption, we don't save your recovery email address in clear text. We don't know your recovery email address, and we have no way to recover it.
To use it for password recovery, you will have to enter it. We will encrypt the email you provide in the same way we encrypted the one on file. If the encrypted values match, we’ll send you a recovery code.
Removing the recovey email address from your account
