My Private.Ki account is suspended
Account suspension is a serious action usually taken when there’s a violation of our Terms of Service or a severe security issue.
If your Private.Ki account is suspended, it means access is completely disabled pending investigation or indefinitely.
This can happen for reasons such as:
- sending spam or engaging in abuse,
- violating our Terms of Service,
- (in rare cases:) due to legal reasons
We aim to be neutral and open, but like any service, there are usage rules to prevent harm.
For instance, using Private.Ki to send out bulk spam or malware is not allowed and will lead to suspension to protect the platform and other users.
If you find your account suspended, you may typically have been notified with some information. Sometimes, an email is sent to your recovery address (if we have one on file) explaining the situation, or at least that a suspension has occurred.
Be aware that during suspension, your data is not accessible to you. Depending on the case, it might be a temporary measure or permanent. In a permanent suspension, you would lose access to all your encrypted emails, contacts, etc., so it’s quite serious. We do not take such actions lightly – it’s usually a last resort to prevent ongoing abuse.
Preventing suspension is straightforward for most users: follow the rules (no spamming, phishing, or illegal content), secure your account (so it’s not taken over by someone who might abuse it), and contact us proactively if you notice any unusual activity.
Private.Ki’s mission is to protect privacy for legitimate users, but we also have to keep the service safe and reliable.
If you believe your account was wrongly suspended, we will certainly investigate and reinstate it if appropriate. Communication with our support is key in those cases.
